Survivor Ghost Island’s extended intro is a delight

You won’t be able to find the full Survivor Ghost Island intro when the show airs later tonight, as it continues to be an online-only affair for modern Survivor.

In an effort to shove as many big moves as possible into each episode, CBS and Survivor production have made some cuts to traditions over the years. One of the most prominent, most iconic and most culturally important to the show’s history, the intro, has since been axed, as now we’ll have to be introduced to the 20 Survivor Ghost Island players through the episode first. Remember last year when Simone Nguyen was virtually absent from the first episode? Expect that with someone in the first hour today!

Thankfully, someone in production is still putting in an effort to do the job anyway, as CBS has revealed what the Survivor Ghost Island intro would look like. If you believe in curses, just one player who was the first introduced to the cast has won the game, with Brendan Shapiro looking to replicate Adam Klein’s success. Nobody introduced last to audiences has won Survivor, with Chris Noble looking to reverse that curse throughout the season.

This intro is interesting in its design, as it goes heavily into the Ghost Island theme. However, one thing to note is that near the end, an unknown male player is pointing at a map, perhaps seeing a series of instructions for where to go on the physical Ghost Island. However, in the bottom-right corner of the map, the imposed image of San Juan del Sur’s Jon Misch appears.

Considering he did not play his idol and was eliminated from the game, perhaps his idol will make an appearance later this season. There are dozens upon dozens of idols and trinkets that will be shown during the episode tonight, and Jon’s misplay isn’t necessarily egregious to the point of pushing prominently.

We’ll have to see how it all plays out when the Survivor Ghost Island premiere airs later tonight starting at 8 p.m. ET.
