Elbows will be flung, fights will be had and tears will be spilled in Survivor Ghost Island episode 4, as the latest promo showcased this week.

Although 14 players still have to be voted out of Survivor Ghost Island, it’s right about now with 17 players left in the game where we start to see certain characters get more of the spotlight. Sometimes, being shown off early offers up an early-game storyline that’s dramatically cut short (a la Ali Elliott from Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers); other times they’re being set up as a potential late-game player.

The Survivor Ghost Island episode 4 promo highlights some of the show’s prominent characters once more while even showing one of the game’s early stars in a vulnerable moment. It could just be a way to get the word out about what “Trust Your Gut” will entail as an episode, but it certainly seems like CBS is planting seeds for later down the road this season.

Though there’s not a whole lot going on in this promo beyond the reward challenge, you should pay attention to the shots in quick succession to get hints at what’s going on. The first shot is of Donathan and Laurel talking, hinting at their first interaction in the premiere episode. Stephanie is talking to Bradley, showing Bradley can actually talk in this game. The third shows Domenick and Laurel, which pans over to Chris and Libby talking on the beach, hinting at the dividing lines in the game. All these shots are important in gauging what might be going on at Naviti after the last vote.

There’s not much going on with the reward challenge beyond seeing Naviti guarantee at least one point scored. However, the closer for the Survivor Ghost Island episode 4 promo shows Stephanie’s vulnerable side, stating that her biggest fear is failing her kids. Concerning winner content, a player’s edit focusing on succeeding to provide for their family is crucial in making audiences sympathetic to them.
