Throwing bags at targets takes on a new twist in this Survivor Ghost Island episode 5 sneak peek of this week’s reward challenge.
The sameness of Fijian locations has been really evident in the challenges present in Survivor Ghost Island. While the theme of the season asks players if they can reverse the curse made by the mistakes of past players, yet CBS is more than content to not only repeat locations but repeat challenges entirely. Last week’s “fight in the water over a ring” was present in Millennials vs. Gen X, and now we’re starting to see twists on past challenges.
The sneak peek for Survivor Ghost Island episode 5, “A Diamond in the Rough,” showcases a simple task with a few twists and turns. Players will need to jump over a few obstacles while running to a pile of bags in the middle of the ground. A player will need to find a lever hidden in a mess to open a pile of 60 smaller sandbags, in which the team will need to toss them to another player who will toss them at three targets. Hitting the targets will spin an axel downward, with enough momentum unleashing a flag. The first team to get all three flags wins.
Of course, we don’t get to see much of this challenge, as it would give away details on who wins the reward; tea, coffee and biscuits (with alllll the fixin’s). Most importantly, the new dynamic of Ghost Island returns once more, as the losing tribe will have one of their players sent to Ghost Island and return before the Immunity Challenge.

From what we’ve seen in the press photos, it appears as though Chris Noble will throw for Naviti and Sebastian will throw for Malolo in this Survivor Ghost Island episode 5 reward challenge. Oddly, we don’t get to see how far Sebastian gets with any of the photos, meaning we have no clue who wins this challenge ahead of time.
