Survivor Ghost Island jerked us around a little bit this past episode but set us up for what will likely be a return by popular cast member Stephanie Johnson.

It was shocking after all of the positive airtime Stephanie Johnson had gotten in Survivor Ghost Island that she became the fifth castaway booted this season. From the beginning, she jumped out to viewers because of how eager she was to be there playing the game.

In the first episode, Stephanie was one of the more televised players and seemed to be one of the frontrunners to win the game (or at the very least, to make a deep run). It appears that was all for naught now, but it’s doubtful that we’ve seen the last of Stephanie.

Episode after episode Stephanie Johnson was in the spotlight, but she became one of the few “good guys” this season after her alliance was sitting ducks. Each confessional she had was something positive and this episode in particular really harped on how she was there playing the game for her children.

Once Stephanie gave her speech at Tribal Council about how she didn’t want to disappoint her children, it seemed like she’d be safe for sure and get to keep on playing for kids. Instead, she was voted out and we were left wondering, “Why so much airtime for someone who was only there for five episodes?”

With Survivor going in a different direction with their All-Star seasons recently and allowing more early boots to play again, Stephanie has to be a lock to return the next time there’s a “Second Chance” season. For one, she was a fan favorite this season and it felt like had she made it past this vote (with the switch and all), she’d make a solid run in the game.

Stephanie is the type of returning player fans love to see return. She’s passionate about the game, has a meaningful reason to return, and really could have made a deep run had she been spared this past Tribal Council. In other words, she has “Second Chance” returnee written all over her.

Survivor last did a Second Chance season in 2015 when fans could vote on which contestants could return to the game. Cambodia was one of the most entertaining Survivor seasons in the show’s history, and it’s hard to envision them not redoing that idea here soon. The last returning players season was Game Changers, which aired this time last year.

When the series decides to do another season with returning players, assuming the theme fits, don’t be shocked to see Stephanie included in the cast. She’d be returning with a vengeance and would go much further next time!
