John Hennigan, John Morrison, Johnny Impact, Johnny Mundo; whatever you call him, add “Survivor season 37 castaway” to extend the list of monikers.
Even though Survivor started out as a summer show, there’s a reason why there’s a long summer break with nothing airing between seasons. First off, CBS uses that time to air fellow reality competition Big Brother. Second, production uses the April – July season to film both upcoming seasons in Fiji, with Survivor season 37 recently wrapping production.
It’s usually in the days leading up to the end of a current season when Inside Survivor likes to report about the upcoming castaways for the next season, but usually, we get a larger collection of the full cast first, then later confirm the rest. This time is different, as the resident spoiler of casts, Martin Holmes, reveals today that former WWE superstar John Morrison (real name John Hennigan) will appear on Survivor season 37.
He has a lot more knowledge about his wrestling career than I do, which includes his stints on Monday Night Raw, Impact Wrestling, Lucha Underground and even appearing on Netflix series GLOW plus disasterpiece Sharknado 5: Global Swarming. However, it does show CBS’ willingness to cast males older than 37, of which there were only two on Ghost Island.
Just like Alan Ball in Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, it will be a matter of creating an alternate persona that will prolong John Morrison’s game inside Survivor. While Alan Ball’s position gave him a physique that allowed him to blend in as a “personal trainer,” John Morrison is decidedly more muscular, making it more difficult for others to believe he’s anything but an athlete.

One thing that may give him a leg up is the expertise of a winner. Among the accounts John Morrison is following on Twitter, winner of Caramoan, John Cochran, is one of them. Who says you need to be on Exile Island in order to garner the benefit of a winner’s strategy? Perhaps he could have a long-lasting impact on the game after all!
