The promos for Survivor Ghost Island episode 13, “Always Be Moving,” are online, setting up a race to the finish for the final seven castaways.
Even if you don’t partake in edgic-watching, Survivor Ghost Island has been incredibly predictable this season. With the exception of a Morgan Ricke elimination, it’s been the Domenick and Wendell show all season. Whatever they want to happen gets done, and everyone seems to be falling for their mist.
However, the producers want to make it look more like a competition for the field (only Kellyn really has been trying to do anything against them), so they’re straight up manipulating confessionals to add some spice. You can see that shine through in the 10-second commercial for Survivor Ghost Island episode 13, as it ends with “I’m just blowing the entire game up.”
Viewers who watched the “Next Time On Survivor” preview at the end of the previous episode know this isn’t a true confessional, though. Production often cuts audio from several confessionals to make the players embellish something they say, with this example likely talking about Donathan, not Domenick himself.
In that “NTOS” preview, we saw Domenick called out by Donathan for grabbing some sort of advantage, Donathan goes to Kellyn to try to make a move and Domenick say that Donathan has gone “completely rogue.” It’s likely that Donathan is blowing the entire game up, not Domenick, as the commercial makes it look less like Donathan is sealing his fate.
The longer sneak peek preview for episode 13, however, just focuses on a new twist on a classic Survivor challenge. Teams of three will race to drop spools from the top of a contraption, grabbing it as it nears a slope at the bottom. As the challenge progresses, players will need to drop more spools, increasing the pace at which they need to drop and retrieve spools. If any fall off the end, that team loses.
The show has been in Fiji for a while now, so it’s great to see the reward for this episode incorporate the local communities. The winning team will help bring much-needed supplies and finish off their good deed with fried chicken and cake. Once again, with seven players left, two captains will be chosen at random to fill out teams, leaving one person out of both reward and Ghost Island contention.
