Though he is on vacation in the United Kingdom, Survivor Ghost Island’s James Lim graciously gave up some time to answer fan questions about the season.

When Jacob Derwin was participating in his Survivor Reddit AMA the other day, it kickstarted the conversation surrounding James Lim’s involvement in one of his own. He had previously mentioned (on some social media platform) about pulling one off, but the momentum certainly swung in the fans’ way, as James Lim took time out of his vacation to talk about Survivor Ghost Island on Reddit.

Speaking of Jacob, one of the more inside baseball stories about his preparation for Survivor Ghost Island was that he managed to find out James Lim’s identity at casting finals. James recapped the experience downplaying his Harvard background, having been inadvertently caught by a studious player, although there’s no way that would have made the show during Jacob’s crash and burn.

Other fun questions James Lim spoke about include whether or not he’d play Survivor again, a fun moment with host Jeff Probst that didn’t make it to air, originally comparing his game to Parvati in his CBS bio to mock all the other players who do so, his thought process on Day 1 before the show begins, and how he ranked the season both with and without him.

James also talked in great detail about Angela’s possible flip against the Naviti players on Malolo 3.0, which proved to be a pivotal time during the show’s run. He admits that he should have done more to sway her to his side, but that Michael was too entrenched in survival mode that it would have been hard to convince him, too, to take out Kellyn in defiance of “Naviti Strong.” He also would have voted for Domenick Abbate to win.

Though he did get a fairly well-rounded edit, all things considered (he did make one of the greatest pre-merger moves in recent Survivor history, considering the minority power), it’s great to see more of James Lim getting involved with the community. It’s rare for me to want to see a season done over again, but because of players like him, it’d be neat to see how things would have changed had a dominating “Naviti Strong” force not control the season.
