Film director, screenwriter and one-time Survivor Loved Ones Challenge partner of Johnathan Penner, Stacy Title, has been diagnosed with ALS.

The Survivor community is filled with hundreds of people who have played the game, hundreds who have helped produce the game, thousands of family members and millions of fans. Still, even when just one of those closest to the foundations of this game is in pain, the rest of the community shares the grief.

Stacy Title, the wife of Survivor Cook Islands, Micronesia and Philippines’ Jonathan Penner, has unfortunately been diagnosed with ALS. She revealed the news earlier this week in a heartfelt post on Twitter, speaking to her illness, how it’s affected her ability to fight for work in Hollywood “and the happy existence of my soul mate and best friend, Jonathan Penner.”

Stacy is an Oscar-nominated director, producing a short film called Down on the Waterfront that netted her and Jonathan Penner nominations for Best Short Film. Her recent success was The Bye Bye Man, and both her and Penner are executive producers of an upcoming King Kong television series.

Astute Survivor fans will recall that Stacy was once actually on the island with Jonathan Penner in Cook Islands, as the two competed in the “throw buckets of water at your loved one and have them dump it into a bigger bucket” Loved Ones challenge. Unfortunately for them, rival Parvati Shallow won that challenge and decided to send him to Exile Island immediately, but not before Penner stole one last kiss and a fond farewell.

The two have been through thick and thin as a duo, sharing many of their ups and downs in the entertainment industry and have even had a moment with each other on Survivor. From all of us at Surviving Tribal, we send our love and support to Stacy, Jonathan and their family in these trying times. You can support ALS research on the ALS Association’s website.
