Whether it’s Celebrity Survivor or Survivor: New Zealand, KA Apa from The CW’s Riverdale has emphatically made his fandom for the island competition known.
Though Survivor is not a headline-grabbing media property anymore to the degree of shows such as The Walking Dead or anything related to Marvel movies, it doesn’t mean that celebrities themselves aren’t fans of the show. The Hollywood giants and B-list alike have shown appreciation for the reality island competition program; some even want to compete themselves!
One of the newest in the line of celebrity Survivor fans is the star of The CW’s Riverdale; a teen mystery drama with a much darker tone than we’ve seen in the Archie Comics comic book universe. KJ Apa plays Archie Andrews on the show, and the New Zealand-based star of more than 9.5 million followers on Instagram (!) isn’t afraid of showing some appreciation.
He recently posted a topless photo of himself wearing a Survivor buff, stating “The tribe has spoken” in the Instagram caption. Currently, NZ: Thailand is airing in his native home of New Zealand, with castaways competing for a chance at $250,000 over the course of 40 days. There are just four players remaining in the last few weeks of the season.

Though he can get the best of both worlds back at home and by watching the CBS show when in America, astute fans have noted that the buff he’s wearing looks very familiar to that of the All-Stars red buff for the Chapera tribe. If so, it shows the lengths of his fandom to have a buff from back then.
Furthermore, he replied to two-time Fans vs. Favorites player Erik Reichenbach on Twitter who highlighted his post, saying, “Get me on Survivor.” There are only two ways to do that; by appearing in the New Zealand version or by forcing CBS and SEG’s hands by bringing forth Celebrity Survivor.

At this point, anything is better than what CBS has planned for season 38 and beyond. With no Emmy nominations for the first time in the show’s career, production can certainly try to shake things up.
