The wait is finally over; Australian Survivor returns today with Champions vs Contenders. Following up an exciting season down under, Channel Ten has searched far and wide for some of the most talented, proven Goliaths of their industries, as well as an enigmatic, knowledgeable group of contenders aiming to be their Davids.
There are a lot of question marks surrounding this season, most involving the return of Russell Hantz. Even though some may question if he truly is a champion (even the host asked that question), his recruit-heavy tribe may not know the extent of his ability to play the game. Plus, unless he gets taken out way too quickly alongside strong players, he can always get back in with Redemption Island.
The game is a lot tougher in Australian Survivor, with players competing over 50 days and with 23 other people. At maximum, that’s eight more players than the US version and usually 11 days longer, making for a more grueling experience and a slimmer shot at winning the game in the end. You really need to outwit, outplay and outlast the competition, and will rely on a bit more luck along the way.

One thing that also happens on Australian Survivor is two or more episodes a week. These episodes are also typically 90 minutes long, letting us get to know the castaways better without forcing anybody to the sidelines to virtual obscurity (*cough Chelsea Townsend cough*).
