Baltimore area Survivor fans: Jonny Fairplay and the Unauthorized Survivor NSFW podcast crew are hosting a watch party for David vs. Goliath.
One of the greatest lies in Survivor history was one of the game’s earliest bold moves. Jonny Fairplay set up his friend, Dan “Thunder D.” Fields, to tell him that his grandma “died, dude,” hence why he was there in his place instead of her. That earned him some sympathy for everyone not named winner Sandra Diaz-Twine, and it became an iconic television moment.
Jonny has stayed loyal to the community over the years, especially through the Unauthorized Survivor NSFW podcast alongside Matt Koon. As such, he’s sent over some information to Surviving Tribal surrounding a Survivor: David vs. Goliath premiere viewing party in Baltimore, calling out all fans in Maryland to join him “and some surprise castaways” to watch the debut episode.
Just like Survivor: David vs. Goliath itself, the event will take place on September 26, but from the comfort of Jimmy’s Famous Seafood in Baltimore, MD. General admission will be $25 per person, with 20 select VIP tickets ($75 each) for early access, a meet and greet, an authentic buff and an 8×10 autographed photo.
The 90-minute premiere will be followed with a Q&A featuring Jonny Fairplay and these unknown players. The viewing party listing indicates “previous” players, meaning you’re not guaranteed to see a David vs. Goliath player. None of the 20 castaways from the upcoming season are listed as players from Maryland.
As someone who was just starting out this site when Rob Has a Podcast came to watch an episode of Game Changers in Toronto, I’ve been itching to go out to a Survivor viewing party and see what all the excitement is about. If you live in the area and hanging out with Jonny Fairplay sounds like your cup of tea, try it out and let us know how it went!
