Survivor host Jeff Probst joins wine podcast to talk David vs. Goliath

It looks like Jeff Probst is ready to talk about Survivor: David vs. Goliath today. The twist; it’s a part of a Hollywood wine podcast with no cast reveal.

Today was a bit of a disappointment for Survivor fans. With the expectation that today would be the reveal of the official Survivor: David vs. Goliath cast (based on the last three seasons, at least) less than a month away from the game’s premiere, it’s kind of a bummer that we’re likely going to have to wait until September for the reveal.

That doesn’t mean there isn’t someone talking about the upcoming season on behalf of CBS. Jeff Probst sent out a rare tweet earlier today, letting everyone know that he took part in the Hollywood Uncorked Podcast, where movie producer Ben Haber, restaurateur Scott Kay & screenwriter Tom Mullen get together every two weeks to talk about food, drink and stories with entertainment personalities.

The real Survivor talk starts about 16 minutes in, with Jeff Probst still offering teases at this point more than substantial talk. An interesting point brought up includes how he and the casting team started probing potential players to see how they see themselves in stories and found that their Goliaths saw themselves as such, while those on the David tribe talk about overcoming adversity.

Talking about the 90-minute premiere, Probst teases an early moment in the opening minutes that plays into something of an “experiment” that will have players uncertain of what advantages they will have. He later teases some “really big weird ideas for (seasons) 39 and 40,” talked about how production turns into a city in its own right, how shocking the first alliance was in Borneo and how he became involved in the show.

This isn’t the first time a Survivor personality went on the Hollywood Uncorked Podcast to talk about the game. About 11 months ago, Caramoan: Fans vs. Favorites winner John Cochran also joined the hosts to talk about his whirlwind journey to getting cast, a former winner supervising him during a college internship and more.
