Mark Burnett, the executive producer of shows such as Survivor and The Apprentice, reportedly choked out Tom Arnold at an Emmy party. It gets even crazier.

We’ve previously written about the Emmys this year and how Survivor was completely snubbed of nominations for the first annual cycle in the show’s history, and I had thought it would end there. However, one of the craziest stories surrounding the show and Emmys happened the night before Monday’s award ceremony, as Mark Burnett reportedly got into a physical altercation broken up by host Jeff Probst.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, at some point during the Evening Before the Emmys party, actor Tom Arnold tweeted out an allegation that Survivor’s executive producer, Mark Burnett, choked him and ran off after a physical altercation. Roma Downey, actress and wife of Mark Burnett, responded an hour later by accusing Tom of ambushing Mark, resulting in a dark bruise on her hand.

That’s not the end of it. How I Met Your Mother actress Alyson Hannigan was a witness to the event, stating Jeff Probst was the one to break up the fight! She did not clarify who started it as of 4:00 a.m. ET, however, but it does add a new wrinkle into the strange altercation.

The insanity of celebrity figures in Hollywood getting into public fights at Emmy parties aside, there is some context needed for those who only know Mark Burnett from Survivor. He also executive produced The Apprentice and is friends with President Donald Trump; the subject of Tom Arnold’s upcoming show The Hunt for the Trump Tapes, airing its first episode on Viceland this week.

The show focuses on Tom Arnold’s attempt to find videotape records to back up his previous accusation of the president using bigoted language during the filming of The Apprentice. That may be enough to provide motive as to why Mark Burnett and Tom Arnold got into the strangest Hollywood fight of 2018.

We will update this story as it progresses.
