The good, the bad and the ugly (rain) are represented in the Survivor: David vs. Goliath episode 3 preview videos, highlighting both tribes.

Despite the orange tribes really taking a beating when it comes to televised Survivor in 2018, there’s a general air of excitement for both tribes as of Survivor: David vs. Goliath episode 3. Sure, the lesser third of the David tribe has to fight back the tears after losing their friend, but we’re seeing authentic characters and happy adventurers, in sun or rain.

This week saw a ton more Survivor: David vs. Goliath previews, perhaps making up for the lack of leadup for the preseason content. The first of the three David vs. Goliath episode 3 preview videos focuses on Carl, showing the hardship and paranoia involved in losing his closest partner in the game.

The way he puts it, losing Jessica only reminds him of his family back home, especially his daughter that is roughly the same age as her. However, he’s not going out without a fight, as he’s gonna kick it up a notch Emeril Lagasse style in accordance with his David lifestyle. He’s starting again from the bottom, but can he get to the proverbial “here” this season?

What’s interesting is how little we saw of John Hennigan in the second episode, but the second David vs. Goliath episode 3 preview video focused solely on him cultivating relationships as John Hennigan. That’s very separate from the character of John Morrison or Johnny Impact, and it’s cool to see him step out of the shadows of his personas (even with some stilted gamebot-like talk).

Of course, there’s eventually going to be a clash of the groups once more, as the third Survivor: David vs. Goliath episode 3 sneak peek video opens up with six seconds of natural sounds. No score, no words; just the billowing clouds of rain as the skies open up once more for the challengers. There’s no look at the challenge; just guttural, hysterical laughter from 18 competitors who have been through the ringer out in Fiji.
