The last castaway voted out of Survivor: David vs. Goliath was mild in post-game interviews compared to the previous two eliminated players. However, we still learned interesting news about secret alliances!

No, we didn’t get the same theatrics at Tribal Council that we’ve grown accustomed to this season. That being said, episode 6 of Survivor: David vs. Goliath still brought us a potentially game-changing vote as the devious Angelina successfully sneaked her way into the merge.

In the process, we saw Lyrsa Torres get her torch snuffed. You always feel bad for those castaways that get voted out right before the merge! In her exit interview on RHAP, Lyrsa revealed interesting details about the social dynamics of this season.

She wasn’t blindsided, she knew she was probably going home. Lyrsa commented on how she wasn’t sure if Mike was going to vote with her or not, until Tribal Council. By their expressions and Angelina’s compliments to Nick, she had a strong feeling that it was going to be her that night.

Unlike the previous two eliminated castaways, Lyrsa no longer harbours any resentment or hard feelings towards her tribe members. She understood where Nick and Mike were coming from and respects their gameplay.

Lyrsa and Mike formed an alliance that they called the “Rainbow Coalition.” Clearly, Nick wasn’t the only one naming his two-person alliances! Lyrsa spoke about the close bond she had with the screenwriter, which may explain why Mike found it so hard to vote her out.

She described Mike as many of us would: “A David of the Goliaths.” This shows us Mike’s continuous ability to build strong relationships with basically everyone, making him a dangerous social player coming into the merge.

Besides Elizabeth and Mike, Lyrsa had an alliance with Gabby. It was interesting to learn that the close relationships the Davids made on Day 1 still had an effect halfway through the season. Would Lyrsa and Gabby still be close if they both made the merge? We’ll never know, but it does tell us a lot about Gabby.

Based on the edit so far, it feels like Christian is the dominant social player, and Gabby is just here following his lead. However, the fact that Christian, Lyrsa, Alison and even Bi (until the blindside) have had implicit trust in Gabby, really shows her ability to draw people in and motivate them to stay loyal to her moving forward.
