With six episodes of Survivor: David vs. Goliath behind us, it’s time to look back and grade the best moments and players of the season so far.

Survivor: David vs. Goliath is shaping up to be a memorable season filled with dynamic characters. In fact, we’ve been treated with one of the best pre-merges ever! Here are our mid-season awards for the action so far.

Dumbest move: Dan not knowing how to hide an idol

It’s actually surprising how there hasn’t been that many miscues at this point. The worst of them being Dan lazily hiding his idol in his jacket. After Jeremy went on snoop patrol and found Dan’s idol, the knowledge of his safety net has spread fast. He does have another idol, but the fact that many people know about one of them paints him as a perfect target to blindside.

Most entertaining Tribal Council: “Jacketgate”

Runner-up: Alec flipping on Natalia

There have been a few great Tribal Councils this season already, but two that we’ll remember for a while. Alec’s controversial move to blindside Natalia was shocking, especially since they appeared to be close allies. What made it even better was her furiously annoyed reaction even after she claimed she would go out with a positive attitude if she were to go home.

However, nothing was more entertaining than watching the most polarizing castaway of the season; Natalie Cole, get voted out. And of course, this Tribal Council was made even more memorable when Angelina stood up, faked tears, and then begged for Natalie’s jacket creating a great Survivor moment!

Best alliance name: The Rainbow Coalition

The Mason-Dixon Line, the Rock Stars, the Thoroughbreds, and the Brochachos are all great alliance names. But the best name, in my opinion, is the one that didn’t even make the edit. In her post-game interview, Lyrsa revealed that she formed an alliance with Mike that they coined the “Rainbow Coalition,” which happens to be one of the most epic names ever! Too bad it didn’t last.

Challenge beast: Alec Merlino

Runner-up: Christian Hubicki

In nearly every Immunity and Reward Challenge, Alec has carried his team and is the reason for many of his tribe’s wins. If he can survive the first few votes, his physical ability may help him to string along a run of Individual Immunity wins.

We can’t forget about Christian, who might be the best puzzle solver in Survivor history! It’s riveting to watch him dominate the mental and strategic aspects of a challenge. He also has the right amount of confidence to step in and get the job done without overpraising his own abilities.

Most persuasive castaway: Angelina Keeley

Prior to the Goliath tribe’s first Tribal Council, Angelina singlehandedly switched the votes from Natalie to Jeremy. Despite some confused and negative responses, Angelina succeeded in creating a unanimous vote to send Jeremy home.

And of course, we can’t forget her elaborate performance to retrieve Natalie’s jacket. It didn’t work out, but it showed how manipulative she can be in order to get what she wants. Even though this embarrassing moment exposed Angelina’s intentions, she was still able to avoid getting her torch snuffed during the next Tribal Council!

Most Strategic Game: Nick Wilson

I think it’s fair to say that no one has been as aggressive with forming alliances than Nick. Right off the bat, he spoke with Elizabeth and Christian to form two solid bonds. On top of that, he formed a solid alliance the Mike, giving Nick the power to choose which route he wants to take after the merge.

  • Best Social Game: Christian Hubicki

The difference between Nick and Christian’s alliances is that Christian forms good relationships without even talking about the game. That is a true mark of a strong social player. He has his solid pair alliances with Gabby and Nick, plus he added the Brochachos to his resume.

Not only did Christian gain ground with the Goliaths, but he was also tight with the other David members. After the first Tribal Council when Jessica was blindsided, Davie, Bi, and Carl were shocked by this vote. Who did they talk with to get answers? None other than Christian. Even the Davids who didn’t vote with Christian went to him for guidance, further cementing his social domination.

Most Entertaining Castaway: “Napalm” Natalie Cole

She was the weakest challenge performer, she never formed a solid alliance, and she played a poor social game, yet she was the most captivating person in Fiji! If we made an award for best villain, Natalie would be the undisputed winner.

Her direct and sometimes aggressive attitude rubbed some castaways the wrong way … which made for entertaining television! There’s a strong correlation between exciting Tribal Councils and Natalie being a part of it. The Jeremy vote and the “Jacketgate” Tribal Councils were two thrilling nights all because of Natalie.
