Getting shelter ready for 13 people at a camp that held five is a hard task, but the Survivor: David vs. Goliath merge secret scene shows just two workers.

The merge is an important time for any Survivor player. It’s the first time you meet certain people, so it’s imperative to be on your best behavior, meet new friends, form alliances and start to plan your route to victory. In Survivor: David vs. Goliath, Vuku and Jabeni came together to merge on Tiva beach, meaning that a shelter of five needed to be expanded to 13.

Unfortunately for Dan and John, the most swole members of the Brochachos, that meant working on the shelter while literally everyone else started to strategize or socialize. You can see their pain in the Survivor: David vs. Goliath episode 7 secret scene, with John and Dan rightfully complaining that nobody else is helping them do the brunt of the shelter work.

Obviously, this article’s featured image shows Kara coming over to help Dan work on setting up the shelter, but for the most part, the two Brocacho Goliath-Tiva men are the ones working. They even admit that everyone else is starting to share stories and get to know one another while they’re busy working, which should really scream out to them that it’s not a good idea to continue to do so.

This secret scene was likely cut from the Survivor: David vs. Goliath merge for a couple of reasons. One of them is that we see some of those social scenes play out in the episode, especially with Alec, Mike and Gabby forming part of the Strike Force. Second, seeing Dan give the old “I hope they care about me providing for camp” talk is old school Survivor; completely against the grain of this season so far.

It does provide context as to why we don’t see John and Dan leading alliances or pulling players off until after the Immunity Challenge, as we saw in the episode that not everybody had a spot under the bamboo on Night 18.
