The last castaway voted out of Survivor: David vs. Goliath had a lot to say about the surprising vote and Alec’s gameplay.

Episode 7 of Survivor: David vs. Goliath gave us a lot of drama for a unanimous vote. Elizabeth Olson became the first castaway to be voted out unanimously following the merge. In her exit interviews, Elizabeth provided us with several revealing details about this season so far.

Angelina told Elizabeth about the plan to vote her out just moments before Tribal Council. Many viewers wondered why Elizabeth waited to Tribal Council to tell the Goliaths about their “traitor.” The answer she gave to Rob Cesternino on RHAP was that she didn’t have enough time!

Apparently, Angelina pulled her aside just prior to going for her confessional before Tribal Council. So there was really no time for Elizabeth to go to the Goliaths and tell them about Angelina spilling the beans.

This goes to show how every action that Angelina has taken so far is part of her strategic manipulation. However, she did ask Elizabeth if she had an idol or if she could get one from the Davids. In fact, Angelina even urged her to bluff that she found a Hidden Immunity Idol, but Elizabeth objected, reasoning that she wouldn’t be able to make her fake idol play realistic enough.

Was Angelina looking ahead to the jury? Maybe, but I find it had more to do with not getting her way. When the Goliaths changed their vote away from Angelina’s preference, she took matters into her own hands. Angelina did give off the vibe that she was still clinging to her plan to get rid of Christian before a non-threat like Elizabeth.

Carl was a determining factor in the vote. Carl and Elizabeth’s fued did not cool down after the merge. We did see Carl quite vocal with wanting to vote out Elizabeth during this past episode, but it was Elizabeth’s comments that really showed how his attitude affected the rest of the Davids.

Elizabeth felt that Carl was a poison, allowing his personal disagreements to break up tribal unity. During Tribal Council when everyone was whispering to each other, Elizabeth approached Carl. Before she could even say her piece, Carl said: “I don’t want to hear it, Elizabeth!”

His comments show that despite the drama at tribal, the vote appeared to be locked in. Carl had no interest in lying to Elizabeth simply to keep her from being suspicious.

Alec’s gameplay continues to improve! After his big move to blindside Natalia, it seemed like Alec presumptuously doomed himself to an early exit. However, this episode saw Alec not just talk about making a big move, but actually putting his plans into action.

Elizabeth mentioned how she built a close bond with Alec following the night he turned on the Goliaths. He even mentioned to her about the idea of building an alliance with a mix of David and Goliath members. So, there’s a good chance that Alec originally thought of including Elizabeth in his six-person “Strike Force” alliance.

However, Alec continues to prove how he doesn’t let personal relationships tie him down. Once he noticed that the even David members like Carl wanted Elizabeth gone, he saw the opportunity to strike.  It will be interesting to watch if Alec can keep his brilliant new alliance together long enough for it to come into effect!
