Survivor: David vs. Goliath episode 9 press photos: Obstacle course
The Survivor: David vs. Goliath episode 9 press photos are in, and with only screengrabs from here on out, we get a better look of what’s coming up.
After a crazy Tribal Council that saw two Hidden Immunity Idols played and a secret alliance blown up, we’re left in a very dynamic stage of Survivor: David vs. Goliath. 11 players are vying to get to the end, but without knowing where everyone sits in the game, we could see an in-lieu merge vote once more, with people swapping alliance groups left, right and center.
If there’s going to be an indication of players switching things up, it will shine through in the Survivor: David vs. Goliath episode 9 press photos, which were made available early this week. Not only do we see parts of the two challenges in the episode, but some interesting conversations in progress.
For now, let’s look at some of the players at camp.
Here we see Alison Raybould in close-quarters conversation with somebody on the beach. This is an indicator that she’s finally part of an impactful game moment in the post-merge phase; a plus for the most under-edited character of the season.
Here’s a slightly typical shot of the Goliaths talking strategy, but Mike is nowhere to be seen. Is it just a coincidence? After last episode’s plan falling apart, it could be intentional.
While it is possible, a single frame doesn’t tell a 42-minute episode’s full story. For example, here’s Mike with Kara, Dan and Alec, even though Kara’s supposed to be de-coupling from Dan based on the “Next Time On Survivor” preview.
We also saw this moment in the “NTOS,” with Nick discussing the Vote Steal advantage with Carl and Christian. Another blindside could be in the works!
If the Goliaths are abandoning “Goliath strong” after the previous episode, it begins with Alec, Alison and now, possibly, Kara turning over their coat and switching sides.
Here is the majority of the Survivor: David vs. Goliath episode 9 Reward Challenge. Two teams of five will make their way through the obstacles, push a player up to grab a bag of numbered tiles, crawl underneath that net to use the tiles to unlock a set of snake puzzle pieces required to complete a puzzle, winning burgers and drinks.
The orange team, chosen by random, is everyone from last episode’s Reward Challenge purple team minus Angelina and Carl swapped with Alec.
The purple team has Christian, Angelina, Gabby, Alison and Nick Wilson, meaning that the Bula Burger Bar reward that had Carl pining for another chance at beer will be completely out of his grasp. He is sitting out of the challenge.
We’ve seen players stumble on the possible number combinations before, but somehow I doubt it will happen with puzzle-solving extraordinaire Christian.
The Immunity Challenge will see players compete in a series of obstacles, with some players likely taken out of contention in phases.
The first phase will see players untie a paddle and ball needed to balance and carry over a teeter-totter. Hopefully, the competitors have a better center of balance than Debbie Wanner did in Game Changers!
The second phase will require the players to navigate a ball through a snake-shaped puzzle obstacle course to sink into its head. It’s likely here that certain players will advance to the next stage of the Immunity Challenge, which remains hidden from the press photo gallery for the time being.
Below are a collection of other photos from Survivor: David vs. Goliath episode 9, as well as some leftovers from episode 8 posted after it aired on television.

Survivor: David vs. Goliath episode 9, “Breadth-First Search,” is more than likely yet another episode title spoken by Christian Hubicki, and it looks to be an action-packed hour.
