Survivor season 38 premiere date set for February 20, 2019
CBS has revealed the Survivor season 38 premiere date as part of its winter season debut press release, marking down February 20, 2019, as the start date.
As we get closer to the end of the hellish year that has been 2018 overall, it marks the end of a mixed bag year for Survivor. Ghost Island was filled with interesting characters that were underdeveloped and a cakewalk for two players fighting for who was going to win the million dollars after episode 6. However, David vs. Goliath has been one of the greatest seasons the show has seen, striking a perfect balance between character development, strategy and survival.
Of course, there’s no way that CBS was going to stop production on the leading Wednesday night show in terms of ratings, as it was inevitable that Survivor season 38 was going to be coming to television early next year. Now thanks to a CBS press release, we now know exactly when the next season will begin.
On Wednesday, February 20 at 8 p.m. ET, the Survivor season 38 premiere episode will air on television for a one-hour debut. Naturally, Jeff Probst is back as the show’s host and executive producer, as this season was filmed in the middle of June this year immediately after the finale of Ghost Island aired and the filming of David vs. Goliath wrapped up. Subsequently, the finale will air on May 15 for its standard three-hour fare.
That’s not the only Survivor news to come from this press release. We also have the release date for The Amazing Race season 31, which will debut on Wednesday, May 22 at 8 p.m. ET. It’s a good spot for Survivor and Big Brother fans, as competitors from both shows will face off against TAR all-star teams.
CBS is squeezing Survivor season 38 right in the middle of an impressive slate of reality competition shows, as Celebrity Big Brother season 2 will debut on Monday, January 21 and will air its two-hour finale on February 13. That gives a week of space from that show’s finale and Survivor‘s premiere, unlike what we saw with Big Brother season 20 and David vs. Goliath.
