The reward part of the Reward Challenge was overlooked, as the Survivor: David vs. Goliath episode 13 secret scene shows a bird’s eye look at Fiji.

A lot has to be said about the editing for Survivor: David vs. Goliath. Though it helps that all 20 players came to play the game as best as they know how, you have to give it up to the editing team helping to form the story at large. They’ve done the best job determining what makes it into the 13+ hours of television that we’ve seen so far.

No moment has felt too bloated or dwelled upon for too long, as the action, strategy, character moments and ultimate hardships jump from scene to scene. For example, during Survivor: David vs. Goliath episode 13, we got to see the best moments of the Reward Challenge, as Davie put forth in motion a plan set to take out Nick with the help of Kara.

The deleted secret scene that made its way to YouTube shows that there wasn’t much going on before arriving on the island spa retreat, as Davie, Kara and Nick are hanging out on a helicopter and checking out the scenery surrounding them. We got to see Davie live out his dream of riding in a helicopter straight out of his video game memories, while Kara remarks at the wonders around her.

Considering that Davie had nine (!) confessionals in David vs. Goliath episode 13, and that nine confessionals is way and above the most awarded to a single player in any episode this season (many had six in an episode prior), we really didn’t need even more Davie perspective. If anything, it would have meant cutting some of Davie’s content elsewhere, as this is 90 seconds of basically nothing.

I don’t think there’s been a secret scene this season that had me question why it didn’t make the episode. It’s a testament to the effort of the editors, showing just how well they’ve been on the ball from start to finish. Now that we approach the finish line, it will be interesting to see what gets cut from the finale two-hour block.
