One of the most brutal Final Six Immunity Challenges has been reworked into a variety, as the Survivor: David vs. Goliath finale preview shows.

Warning: This Survivor: David vs. Goliath finale preview shows about a minute of the first of three Immunity Challenges, indicating who has an early lead.

Though Redemption Island is one of the worst seasons in the history of Survivor (seriously, just check the rankings), I did feel a bit of kinship and emotions when Boston Rob Mariano was lumbering to the top of the staircase prison he found himself locked into at the Final Six Immunity Challenge. The puzzle was simple in concept; bring a bunch of unique ladder steps and place them into their correct segment on a staircase to the top and unfurl a flag to win immunity.

The difficulty lied in the physicality. You could only bring one piece up at a time, and filling the pieces at the top meant running up and down the stairs time after time. In the blistering Nicaraguan heat, Boston Rob was practically crawling to the finish line, cramping hard and crumbling as hard as a person can without medical being called.

This doesn’t happen in the Survivor: David vs. Goliath finale Final Six Immunity Challenge, however, as these competitors have had to deal with the hardships of the rain enough this season, let alone a staircase to hell. Instead, the “Step on Up” part of this Final Six challenge is relatively minor.

In fact, this video shows off more of the lead-up to the stairs and the real heart of the challenge, as Angelina once again responds to Jeff Probst’s rhetorical “Survivors ready?” cry and some of the early leaders in the challenge. As always, it seems like it’s anyone’s game until the end, where the synopsis-teased 63-piece puzzle awaits everyone with a more equal shot to solve now that Christian is out of the game.
