Survivor: David vs. Goliath: Should Jeremy Crawford return?
He was one-half of one of the biggest clashes in Survivor: David vs. Goliath, burning up quickly before fading away. Should Jeremy Crawford return?
When the Goliaths started out on Survivor: David vs. Goliath, it seemed like it would take a swap for any of them to be voted out. Winning challenge after challenge, they were too strong a group, as the titans of industry knew what it took to win. Of course, perception doesn’t always become a reality, especially when it comes to the magic of TV editing.
Despite the Goliaths knowing how to work as a team in challenges, they were portrayed mostly as self-serving individuals. Everyone was eager to paint a target on Mike White’s back early for looking for a Hidden Immunity Idol on Day 1, yet everyone on the Goliath tribe was scouring for it on their own or in groups on Day 2.
The sense of self-importance shined brightly in Jeremy Crawford who, by Day 7, saw other members of the Goliath walking off and socializing as a plan to bring down the Goliath strong mantra. He took most of the tribe aside ahead of a potential swap to sit them down and say “don’t go off strategizing and socializing” in order to continue the expected Goliath dominance.
The number one rule in Survivor is not to make yourself a target, and trying to manage other people’s conversations is perhaps the biggest violation in that spirit. Even more contradictory was Jeremy bringing people aside shortly after and pitching voting out Dan because he has a Hidden Immunity Idol after digging through his pockets while off strategizing and socializing with Mike.
Whereas the Goliath tribe was leaning towards getting rid of the lazy yet bossy (in their eyes) Natalie, Jeremy couldn’t let things play out as Natalie tried to stay alive in the game. After getting into a confrontation with her days ago, Jeremy refused to step aside as she tried to stay alive by having conversations on the beach, instead blowing up her spot and getting into a huge argument.
From there, Jeremy’s game only fell further, with Angelina whipping the vote against him and Jeremy stating that more people from the tribe would go to his funeral over hers right before stating she didn’t know how she was being perceived. It was in that moment of irony that the entire Goliath tribe voted him out, including his closest ally, Mike.
Jeremy would then go on in exit interviews to imply that Angelina and John were in a showmance based on nothing, wasn’t at the reunion and wasn’t seen in pre-jury trip photos (implying he left Ponderosa early). Vote in our straw poll and let us know if you would to see Jeremy Crawford in a future season of Survivor.
