She didn’t get the chance to make a swap after making the difficult decision to pull herself from Survivor: David vs. Goliath. Should Bi Nguyen return?

The David tribe suffered setback after setback heading into the fourth episode of Survivor: David vs. Goliath. Whether it was Pat Cusack getting medically evacuated after succumbing to a phantom injury sustained outside of gameplay, a tribe-splitting 5-4 blindside sending Jessica Peet home or the unending rain pouring down on the camps, the team took loss after loss.

Bi Nguyen was the third of their losses before the tribes even swapped, suffering the worst possibility facing an athlete. She and the rest of the Davids struggled throughout her journey in the game, however, coming together by sharing adversities, including her past with domestic abuse. It was there that she formed bonds with the majority of the tribe, including Carl, Davie and Jessica.

When the latter was blindsided, she started not to take Survivor: David vs. Goliath for granted, working with Carl, Davie and Nick to pull an eventual blindside on Gabby, who had been “puppeteering” from the start. Other than that, Bi’s biggest contributions to the David tribe came in challenges, where her strength as an MMA fighter helped keep the teams even.

However, when facing off against eventual challenge beast Alec Merlino, she would falter. In a challenge where she needed to pull even, she couldn’t ladder herself up nearly as quickly as Alec did, letting her tribe fall behind. Later, as the rains came pouring back in, she pulled up lame in the one challenge where the David tribe won, hurting her knee back at camp.
