4) Christian playing his idol last second

One of the most exciting players of the season kept on finding a way to survive vote after vote. This was the first time that Christian actually used one of his own advantages to save himself. Christian epically stopped Jeff just as he was about to read the votes. He then took a moment to read the room and analyze Gabby’s expressions, and then played his idol negating five votes!

As dramatic as that was, in Christian’s exit interview he confirmed that his last-second idol play was 100% for show. It turned out that Davie and eventually the Jabeni 3 all told Christian to play his idol. So his over the top antics were simply to make it seem to the other castaways that Christian decided by himself to play the idol, protecting the people who informed him to play it.

That being said, this was still a crucial Tribal Council, as we saw Gabby take the biggest risk of the season by attempting to blindside her closest ally. Unfortunately for her, it ended up blowing up in her face as Christian got one over on her by playing his idol. It was Nick’s brilliant idea to throw a few votes on Gabby, sending another strategically minded player to the jury.
