Easily the best-performing Survivor player from Kentucky, Williamsburg native Nick Wilson is celebrated by his town by declaring today Nick Wilson day.

Williamsburg, Kentucky is home to just over 5,000 people, according to Wikipedia. Judging by the list of notable people, Nick Wilson from Survivor: David vs. Goliath is perhaps the city’s most famous export, as his impeccable victory run through the game was witnessed by millions of people both on television and online.

Considering how he kept things as Kentucky proud as possible, it only made sense for his hometown to return the favor. As reported by CBS affiliate WKYT, the mayor of Williamsburg honored the Survivor winner by declaring today, January 16, 2019, the official Nick Wilson Day in the city.

In addition to the prestigious honor, Nick also received a key to the city. Finally, the city reportedly hopes to put up indicators that Williamsburg, KY is the home of Nick Wilson on signs entering the city. Whatever makes you affiliate the city with one of 36 winners of Survivor (Sandra won twice), Williamsburg is doing it.

There are only eight players from Kentucky who have played Survivor. Rodger Bingham was the first in The Australian Outback, and was previously tied with Donathan Hurley from Kimper as the highest-finishing players from the state. Donathan might have lived in the smallest town, however, as his unincorporated community technically doesn’t even have a local municipal government.

Regardless of your up-to-date Kentucky facts, it must be a great honor to be given your own day and key to the city in your hometown. Most people who have competed on the show likely aren’t even in the top 5 in most notable exports, yet Nick Wilson was able to go out and compete in one of the hardest reality competitions and accomplish all three of his dreams; become a lawyer, compete on Survivor and have Nick Wilson Day be an official day in his city.
