Survivor Edge of Extinction episode 1 press photos: Bring Me To Life
So long season 37; hello, Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 1 press photos! These select shots are the highlights of the first three days of the game.
Warning: These Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 1 press photos will show the tribes and players as they live on the beaches for the first few days.
We’re inching closer and closer to the Edge of Extinction … Survivor’s offseason extinction that is! With just a week left until we find out who will be the first voted out (but not likely the first player eliminated from the game), the nervous excitement for what can only be assumed to be a hot mess of a season is building up to a boiling point.
Thankfully, CBS has uploaded the Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 1 press photos, showing off a taste of what’s in store for the 14 newcomers and four returning players. For one person, a million dollars lies in wait. For many others, it’s starvation and bare necessities on Extinction Island for days and days, only to receive a losing player’s stipend.
As you can see in this first photo in the Survivor: Edge of Extinction game timeline, there are only 14 players at the marooning. The players had seen 16 total at Ponderosa, meaning two players were either decoys or alternates. Either way, the players await Kelley and David to sit on the front and back stools and Aubry on the box (Joe will stand beside Aurora).
After collecting materials and supplies, the teams are off to begin their 39-days adventure. It looks like supplies are still being collected, as well as fellow castaways. Is there an advantage onboard?
David Wright was one of the first players to live on these Fijian beaches thanks to Millennials vs. Gen X, so he will show the newbies the ropes and where to set things up.
No, seriously; David is seriously leading the tribe in building the foundation of the shelter while Kelley works the palm fronds.
It’s a bold strategy now to show other Survivor players you know how to make fire without flint, but Wardog values fire early (as well he should).
It’s not who’s working on their own, but who’s hanging out early in Survivor that can spark an early alliance. David and Kelley seem to be getting along well with Rick and Wardog out the gate.
As we move over to Timothy Kuratek s photo set covering the Kama tribe, we see the players going overboard, including Gavin about to land in the water.
Seriously, the beginning looks a lot messier than other Survivor maroonings, although it looks like the Kama tribe have some key items in crates onboard their starting boat.
The Kama tribe arrives on the beach carrying their items to the shore. Only Aubry has experience on these Fijian beaches thanks to Game Changers, giving both tribes an expert player and a player who’s experienced hell in Cambodia.
More hugs and salutations from people getting to know each other after hanging out for a week at Ponderosa without saying a word. Julia and Ron are in a few photos talking with each other.
Gavin is a young superfan that appreciates the hell out of Joe Anglim, so this moment might lead to a deeper bond further in the game. Plus, dat pineapple shirt!
The Kama tribe cheers themselves with their water canisters as they get to work on their shelter.
The first step of opening a coconut is to listen to an expert teach you how to cut open a coconut. Let’s hope things go swimmingly the first time.
We’ve seen alliances form while hanging out lying on the beach, and Victoria, Julie, Gavin, Julia and Joe are a fearsome fivesome that could have the numbers advantage right there in the early Survivor: Edge of Extinction game.
Before dumping a selection of the rest of the Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 1 photos, let’s look at the Immunity Challenge! The tribes are clapping here likely in appreciation of the Immunity Idol or some sort of reward paired with the challenge.
Based on the layout, tribes will need to navigate through a rope obstacle, cross one by one on a series of narrow beams, pass over a rope bridge, have one player climb up a rope to a spire to ring a bell, then work as a team to solve a slide puzzle by creating a path for the tribe’s cube box to make its way through in a straight line.
Here’s a closer look at the opening rope portion of the challenge.
Here’s Chris balancing his way over the narrow beams.
Finally, here’s Kama working mostly as a team as Ron looks on from a separate vantage point.
