Survivor Edge of Extinction goes behind the scenes on ET Canada

Rather watch a 30-minute block of Survivor: Edge of Extinction preseason behind-the-scenes coverage than short clips? ET Canada has you covered.

Though I’ve been proud to enjoy ET Canada’s Survivor coverage the past few years (especially with Arisa Cox taking over interviews on location in Fiji), Survivor: Edge of Extinction coverage from the Canadian press contingent has been stellar. There are a ton of videos available on the show’s YouTube channel, but not everyone has the kind of time to see or read everything.

Thankfully, ET Canada has television viewers covered this weekend. Just in time for Family Day weekend, Global TV will offer up a half-hour preview of Survivor: Edge of Extinction called “Survivor Secrets with ET Canada” on Sunday, February 17 at 7:30 p.m. ET (check local listings).

If past seasons are to gather, it will be a truncated version of the cast interviews, some features with Jeff Probst and other members of production staff, as well as filmed coverage of the first Immunity Challenge in practice, with members of the press facing off against each other. We’ve seen USA vs. Canada press before, but considering how physical this challenge will be, perhaps the Dream Team will step in and help both sides.

As confirmed on Reddit (which, surprisingly, has the only promo running for the spot), this special will also be posted online afterward, so you don’t have to be tuned in on Sunday night. However, the special might be worth checking out for some of the footage alone, as it will cover aspects such as the Tribal Council set, you’ll get to hear from the returnees, learning more about the cast intro and much more.

This year will feature the first casting cycle that possibly includes Canadians due to casting eligibility changes, so it will be interesting to see how preseason coverage goes from here. For now, this will serve as an excellent appetizer ahead of the main course; the Edge of Extinction premiere, airing February 20 at 8 p.m. ET.
