The newbies think they’re on their own and the returning players don’t know what’s in store; the Survivor Edge of Extinction episode 1 preview videos are in!

This post will show the opening two minutes of Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 1, as well as a look at the Kama camp early on Day 1.

Though it’s not as long of an offseason as between season 36 and 37, the wait for Survivor: Edge of Extinction ever since the show went off the air in December has been excruciating. There’s still so much we don’t know about the Redemption-like twist, how much harder it will be for the players who are voted out of the game and what they’ll need to do to earn their way back.

Thankfully, some of those questions will be answered (and more will be asked again) starting just tomorrow, as Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 1 airs on February 20 at 8 p.m. ET. CBS has finally released its first preview videos of the first episode, showing off the first two minutes of the season as it will air tomorrow night.

Whereas many previous seasons have offered a look at the first six or so minutes before the castaways reach the end or beginning of some sort of opening challenge, this premiere episode is just 60 minutes long, so CBS doesn’t want to give away too much of what’s going on. Wardog talks about underplaying his law student ways, Wendy Diaz talks about her dynamic life, Joe Anglim wants to not shine brighter than anyone else, and Jeff Probst describes the season’s twist.

That’s all before Probst offers his opening monologue, whereas the Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 1 preview video on Twitter shows life at Kama and Joe’s instant difficulty in trying to lay low. It’s hard to do so when you know how to survive and everyone counts on you to know how to build a shelter, so that dichotomy of laying low and being a provider is an early challenge for Joe.

That seems to be all you’re going to get ahead of tomorrow night’s episode, so take a look at the ~150 or so seconds of action if you don’t mind very minor, non-spoiler content from tomorrow’s broadcast.
