6. Ron Clark

Despite not driving the drama of Kama, Ron Clark showcased how well his social game is by busting out the kumbayah dance choreography for the tribe and have the other players follow along. That takes a lot of energy and a lot of social grace to be able to pull that off, and showed that he’s still a key member of “newbies vs. returnees” by noting they’ve had their time on the show already.

5. Gavin Whitson

Once again, we were reminded of the importance of Gavin’s intuitions and relationship with Eric as they paired up to search for the Hidden Immunity Idol. We didn’t need to be reminded about Gavin in this episode, as the show could have just cut to him and Eric searching for the idol. The fact that we get his insight for absolutely no reason is crucial to planting the seeds for a larger story.

4. Eric Hafemann

While Gavin does have that country bumpkin upside that Survivor loves to push with its Southern players, Eric getting the same amount of screentime as Gavin when searching for the Hidden Immunity Idol is huge! He’s rather mundane and straightforward in the edit, but the fact we keep tabs on him despite no forward momentum is huge for his longevity. Plus, he has more people interested in a plan he gets credit for pushing first on Kama; taking out the returnees.
