No longer do you have to wait for the twist of fate moment, as the Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 7 preview video shows the reactions of seeing old friends again.

Survivor is inherently unfair. Many gameplay elements are downright unpredictable, from challenges to tribe swaps, to idols and idol nullifiers. The game is about chaos, and anything can happen at any time. Unfortunately, most of the time the players know the opportunity for twists is out there; Edge of Extinction did not give the players the opportunity to keep all options in mind.

As evidenced in the Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 7 preview video for “There’s Always a Twist,” some of the players had an idea that there’s some meaning behind the “Edge of Extinction” season name. However, they were all shocked to see the players they voted out would have the chance to compete for another shot at the game, adding a new wrinkle.

It looks like Jeff Probst has been itching to reveal the season’s theme, waxing poetic about how the Edge of Extinction is not the friends we make along the way, but the players who have been living on an island. The active players don’t know they’ve been affecting the game by sending extra votes, nor did they had to care about what pre-merge players think as potential jury members.

Another storyline present in this preview is that with Wendy’s elimination in the joint Tribal Council last episode, there are eight original Kama members and four Manu members entering the merge. If Aubry returns, that’s an even bigger tribe discrepancy, which may set up a disappointing Pagonging situation. Whatever the case may be, David, Wardog, Kelley and Lauren have a rough road ahead.

Unlike last week’s two-hour affair, the Survivor: Edge of Extinction merge will last only an hour. That means getting in a redemption challenge, merge, camp life, Immunity Challenge, camp strategy and Tribal Council all within an hour. That’s a rushed merge experience, for sure!
