4) Gavin Whitson

Just like everything Gavin has done in this season of Survivor, his challenge threat is under the radar. That’s actually a good quality to have as it will enable him to make it deeper into the game without having a big target on his back.

Gavin reminds me of Nick Wilson, not simply because they’re both country boys, but because of their solid but not overwhelming athleticism. If the majority of the castaways are focused on taking out the returnees, Gavin could slip through the cracks. By the time those bigger threats are gone, Gavin might just be the only real challenge contender remaining. All of the shields in front of him put him in a perfect opportunity to peak at the right time in terms of challenge performance.

It’s usually his alliance partner, Eric taking the spotlight in challenges, but Gavin has proved to be solid in terms of strength and swimming. We also saw in last week’s double episode Gavin’s accurate arm strength, nearly matching Joe shot for shot. That ability would prove to be a massive asset in any throwing type of challenge. The only real concern is his unfavorable edit.
