Phase 3: Careless whispers

Kelley Wentworth was the first player to get up from their seat and start talking to other players about where to vote, and that created the craziest moment in Survivor: Edge of Extinction so far and what might be the messiest, craziest Tribal Council in all of Survivor history.

  • Wentworth gets unheard agreement on a vote target with Aurora.
  • Wardog pitches Aurora to Ron, Julie and Lauren.
  • Upon hearing a suggestion from Rick, David taps Kelley’s shoulder with a wry “hi” before Ron called David and Devens into their huddle.
  • Devens said, “A truce can get both of us a long way” before Wardog let Kelley know he’s pitching Aurora to his conversation group.
  • Wentworth asked Gavin, Julia and Aurora if the plan was real and they say yes (we know this is a lie thanks to Twitter). With that lie, she says she’s not turning on them.
  • Julie whispers she will jump with Lesu to vote out one of the Kama majority players alongside Ron.
  • As a group of Wardog, Lauren, David, Devens listens on, Ron asks to a prying Victoria if the group wants to vote out Victoria. To her face. Victoria asks “WHAT?” in response.
  • Julie gets a bit more open about Ron and herself jumping to the Lesu Five in front of Victoria while Aurora looks on in concern.
  • Ron asks David what’s good for his game while David asks if he’s not working with Victoria. He replies, “I’m supposed to be,” while Victoria suggests “nothing has changed” about their intended target (it’s Kelley, but she doesn’t say that out loud because she’s a good player).
Survivor Edge of Extinction episode 9 Tribal Council jury reacts

  • Devens remarks that Kelley is likely out of the vote to David, while David replies they should stick to their plan.
  • Joe asks, “Where’s the popcorn?” as Aubry smiles on watching Gavin, Julia, Kelley and Aurora strategize in a way unheard to the audience.
  • Julie wants Julia or Aurora while Wardog asks which one they should vote out, noting the seven players in that group conversation are enough to succeed.
  • Aurora calls that open shot at her while Ron tells Julia these players are throwing her name out.
  • While everyone else talks strategy, Julie and Julia’s talk comes to the forefront, with Julie saying Julie gave too many looks she thought she got away with, eroding Julie’s trust in her and saying she’s out of the alliance. Julia tries to calm her down by saying, “You’re freaking out!” A bold strategy.
  • Devens reiterated to Ron that he and David were the only people who voted with him and Julie last time, which should be worth some trust.
  • David sits down beside Kelley asking who the target was as Kelley honestly (in her mind) replies David was the target tonight. The jury loves that reaction.
  • As Julie calls out Julia’s lack of faith in her by saying she was last to know the real vote target, Aurora decries to nobody, “I can’t deal with soccer moms.
  • Kelley tells David she’s open to a plan of his while David retorts he’s open to making one right now if he can trust her.
  • As Julia suggests Julie is going to throw Kama control to Lesu, Julie screams that she doesn’t have control from the bottom before physically running to the other side of Tribal Council yelling, “I’m ready to jump ship!” She then sits on David’s lap as Aurora’s voice (I think) says Julie “lost her damn mind.”

Phase 4 winds us down from the climax of this Survivor episode before getting to our vote.
