While we have no idea who will be visiting the players as loved ones, the Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 12 press photos tease the moment.
These Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 12 press photos show portions of this week’s show as it will air on television.
We’re coming down to the nitty-gritty, as there are just seven players left in the game. Well, perhaps that might be a bit reductive, as there are technically 16 players either plotting and strategizing or preparing for their final chance to re-enter as an active player and no longer a juror.
As we approach the final 10 days of the game, only one thing is guaranteed to pick the players’ spirits upwards; a hug from a loved one. However, CBS doesn’t want to give away who those people are, so most of the Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 12 press photos showcase everything but who the castaways are truly playing for back home.
This will probably be one of the last moments of levity for this group, although it seems odd that the entire Vata tribe is here with the exception of Julie. That doesn’t quite make sense based on what we know of tribe dynamics right now.
The title of this week’s episode is called, “Awkward,” and this might be the reason why; Aurora is going through Rick’s things to find the “Advantage Menu” Ron gifted him this episode per this week’s promo.
This must be Rick Devens sitting on his bag after catching Aurora digging through his things, thus completing the titular cycle of “Awkward.”
This is interesting; this is the second time this group of three are sitting together and talking about stuff. With just seven people left in the active game, a trio could prove to be quite powerful for the endgame.
Still, it seems like the merge’s strongest duo continues to be Julie and Ron, as here they are by what looks to be the well in talks about what to do next.

They might be playing the middle once again, as here Julie and Ron are talking to Rick Devens in private, as well.
This is it; this is the moment Eric Hafemann wishes he wasn’t so manipulative in using as a coercive carrot dangling in front of the Kama players. It’s the loved ones visit realized by the players who have been ripped from society a month ago.
It looks like Gavin is beyond emotional in awaiting his loved one. It may very well be his wife, as she moved her wedding up to just days before Survivor: Edge of Extinction began filming so that Gavin could play out his dreams. Based on everyone’s reactions, it seems like it’s someone, at least, who he’s talked about a lot out on the island.
There are no more revealing images of the loved ones reward challenge, so let’s jump ahead to the immunity challenge. Survivor brought back a mid-school classic with Chimney Sweep, as players hold themselves up while standing on increasingly smaller footpegs. The last player standing wins immunity, and this is the first time this challenge has appeared since Redemption Island.
