Rick Devens has officially been elevated to scene-stealing distraction, as the Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 13 promo shows his wily ways.

The Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 13 promo below will feature snippets of what we can expect to see airing on television during next week’s show.

If it wasn’t clear that Rick Devens is on a late-game Ben Driebergen-like trajectory, this week’s episode should start planting that seed into your head. Rick had to go sneaking around camp Metal Gear Solid style to retrieve a Hidden Immunity Idol that was placed in a tree 15 feet up in the air at night to keep himself safe.

Now it’s crystal clear that Rick Devens is on an “Idol or Bust” gameplay mode in Survivor: Edge of Extinction. It’s so clear that it’s the name of Survivor: Edge of Extinction episode 13’s title next week, as the promo shows that Rick Devens has become the whirling dervish monster he sought to destroy in Wendy Diaz earlier this game.

Much like half of this week’s confessionals have been dedicated to Rick Devens, almost this entire promo is dedicated to the Macon, GA news anchor. Oddly enough, the only time you see Julie is her stumbling at the beginning of what looks to be the Immunity Challenge, as it’s Gavin, Victoria, Aurora and Lauren who are out searching for an idol as a committee.

However, Rick Devens’ winner edit (should he have one) is transforming from Ben Driebergen to Tony Vlachos, as he’s just running around the island hiding from the other players and scaring them with “AAH!”s from behind trees. It seems as though he’s trying to be as chaotic to the others looking for an idol as he is running around from spot to spot searching for his last bastion of safety.

Whatever the case might be, it’s clear that Rick Devens isn’t interested in playing Survivor anymore. Instead, he’s playing advantage bingo, hoping to strike gold instead of playing a good social game. Who knows; perhaps he’ll win his third individual immunity of the season instead!
