Considering vote-outs had the chance to re-enter in secret up until the merge, the Survivor: Edge of Extinction finale’s unpredictability raises questions.
It’s all come down to this. For 11 players who were voted out of the game, they have been on the Edge of Extinction for hours, days, weeks, or even a month. Reem Daly was voted out a month prior to the Survivor: Edge of Extinction finale challenge, yet she persevered long enough to take one last shot at redemption.
Because we’re adding from the Final Five to the Final Six, and seeing how it’s hard to show anything more than two challenges without getting into spoilers, the Survivor: Edge of Extinction finale promo does the best job it can, polishing a commercial into something so pristine they hope people will mistake it for a diamond.
If the finale truly is as unpredictable as the commercial insists, then this season will be a diamond in the rough. All signs are pointing to a Mike Halloway-esque run to the finish, winning out with idols and immunity necklaces to keep himself safe instead of playing into the core tenets of a social game.
As we can see in the promo, 11 people will be fighting hard for the shot to stay in the game and not recognize the inevitable; a spot on the jury bench. Something to note is that we’ve never had a jury as large as we’ve seen it this year, which by and large will help make the Final Tribal Council voting scenario. We also saw glimpses of the new Final Six challenge, including Lauren building a 3D puzzle.
I’m not so sure what could actually make the Survivor: Edge of Extinction finale unpredictable without the winner being someone else than Rick Devens. Considering he has had more confessionals in the past two episodes than both Victoria and Lauren each over the entire season, one of those two pulling off a victory would be the only way to make sense of this promo.
