Survivor Edge of Extinction: Lauren’s idol is Chekhov’s gun
Though it slipped out of Kelley Wentworth’s mouth in her boot episode, Survivor: Edge of Extinction cannot end without addressing loose lips on Lauren’s idol.
As we enter the final episode of Survivor: Edge of Extinction, a storyline that appeared to be a big deal a few weeks ago has yet to appear. That storyline was when, after being voted off, Wentworth spilled the beans about Lauren’s idol to the rest of the Edge of Extinctioners.
Why hasn’t Kelley Wentworth blabbing about hers and Lauren’s idols been brought up yet? Well, it seems pretty straightforward. There’s been no time for it to get brought up. But when will it be brought up in the finale? We’re running out of time to get this storyline in the spotlight.
Wentworth was voted out four weeks ago and upon arriving at the Edge of Extinction, promptly told the other castaways that she was kicking herself for getting voted out with an idol in her pocket. Even more stupid, she let slip that her best buddy Lauren had a Hidden Immunity Idol, too. David responded with, “Oh really?” and it seemed like a huge deal at the time. However, there’s been no buzz on this ever since it happened.
Something more has to come of this, or they wouldn’t have shown that footage. Yes, they crammed it in at the end of Wentworth’s boot episode, so maybe not everyone ended up seeing it. But still, that moment has to come into play eventually, right?
With the finale being next week, it’s then or never. The contestants who have been waiting it out on the Edge of Extinction are fighting to get back into the game for one final time. Maybe whoever succeeds tells the tribe about Lauren’s idol at the Final Tribal Council that she can play it at (but what would the point of that be?).
That feels like the most likely scenario, but maybe another bitter contestant spills the beans after losing the Edge of Extinction challenge to try and shake things up.
I find it hard to believe after watching Survivor for nearly 19 years now that this scene was shown and nothing is going to come of it. The editing team knows what they’re doing and if Lauren’s idol doesn’t become the topic of conversation at some point, why show us that scene?
What do you think will happen with this scene? Will it come into play or not?
