Be prepared for 90 minutes of character development and cantankerous winners, as Survivor: Island of the Idol’s season premiere date has been set.

Amid the chaos, topics of conversation and debate surrounding the fairness of someone playing 12 days of Survivor and winning in Edge of Extinction, we glossed over what’s coming next in season 39, Island of the Idols. If you’re unaware, winners Boston Rob and Sandra will serve as island mentors living on bare necessities, giving advice to those that visit them throughout.

We will have to wait for a couple of months before we learn more about the season, including official word on who’s playing and how long the winners will be crucial to the season (and in what ways), but CBS at large has given us the keys to the kingdom when it comes to learning when we will have the chance to check it out.

CBS has officially set the Survivor: Island of the Idols season premiere date for Wednesday, September 25 at 8 p.m. ET. It will be a 90-minute episode akin to what we saw with David vs. Goliath, and just like that season, it will immediately be followed by the 90-minute season finale of Big Brother 21. The following week will see Survivor at 8 p.m., SEAL Team at 9 p.m. and S.W.A.T. at 10 p.m., with all times Eastern.

Previously, Jeff Probst mentioned the wish to produce more 90-minute episodes of Survivor on social media during Edge of Extinction’s airing, as well as wanting to find a way to make the auction work for modern superfans who have broken its mechanics to make it predictable. He tweeted those things during the filming of Island of the Idols, so perhaps we’ll see those changes sooner rather than later!
