Survivor Edge of Extinction: Should Kelley Wentworth return?
One of the greatest fight-from-behind players in Survivor, Kelley Wentworth played from power in Edge of Extinction. Should she return in the future?
The one thing I wasn’t prepared for when watching Survivor: Edge of Extinction was a potential Kelley Wentworth villain edit. Despite being a logical person who wanted the best for herself and her allies on a beleaguered, weaker Manu tribe, she was presented as the opponent for the wacky, relatable underdogs such as Rick, Reem, Wendy and even, somehow, David Wright.
Despite many early attempts to have her voted out, she just rolled her eyes as the proverbial bodies dropped, including the early favorite in Rick Devens. She relied on the core group of her and Lauren to work her way through the merge, finding a Hidden Immunity Idol and keeping her closest ally safe at a two-tribe Tribal Council by taking out Wendy.
It was at the merge where she suddenly found herself in a tough position. Kama’s players outweighed Manu’s players 8-5 heading into the merge, and the fifth Manu player, Rick Devens, was super salty with Kelley and her trio for voting him out. However, instead of taking out the biggest Manu threat in Kelley, Kama started the slow, but sudden, implosion.
After Joe was voted out, it was the perfect time for Manu to come together and convince the lowest on Kama’s totem pole to flip. David heard Kelley out, but Rick still felt betrayed, so he was left out on the plan to blindside Eric as Kelley avoided having to use her idol once again. Kelley received votes in the first three Tribal Councils of both the pre-merge and the post-merge, showing a steely cold demeanor not to pull the trigger.
As Julia and David fell before her, it might have been overconfidence combined with Wardog’s insatiable craving to make big movez that finally saw Kelley fall. She was blindsided by the majority led by one of the Lesu Three, as she was finally voted out with an idol in her pocket; the second returnee of Edge of Extinction to do so.
Kelley ran the gamut of a Survivor run, rising to power only to come together with Joe and Aubry on the Edge in quiet contemplation. She was a hard-fought warrior who didn’t take nothing from nobody. Vote here in our straw poll and let us know if you think Kelley Wentworth should return once more in a future Survivor season.
