Survivor: Worlds Divided

There have been a few great Survivor season theme ideas that have been disappointing more because of the characters involved as opposed to the theme itself. One World and Worlds Apart provided an interesting perspective on tribal life and peoples’ backgrounds, respectively, and both had the potential to be great were it not for the bullies and deplorable people on each.

One way to continue the “worlds” idea is to explore Survivor: Worlds Divided. Casting players from rural, suburban, and metropolitan areas, it would help bring back the show to its roots in appreciating Americans from all walks of life. Even though Lauren Rimmer was from a themed season of its own, she would slot into rural due to her hometown of less than 5,000 population.

For the ultimate fun and season narrative, I’d love to see castaways from drastically different walks of life compared to their occupation. For example, you have your expected archetypes per tribe with an IT guy from a rural town or a farmer from a metropolitan city thrown in. That way you get the “even though I’m a cop, I’m playing like a criminal” lines that the show loves so much.
