Our first cast assessment of Island of the Idols: Lauren Beck, has the determination and social skills to leave her mark on season 39 of Survivor.

It’s always an exciting time for Survivor fans when we get to learn about the cast leading up to the new season. With the official cast reveal landing today, we can finally get to familiarize ourselves with the 20 first time players of Island of the Idols. At 28 years old, Lauren Beck is a promising castaway in a season that Jeff is already sensing a strong female presence.

What really pops out while reading Lauren’s CBS bio is her potential to be one of the most dynamic players of the season. She is currently a nanny living in Glendale, California and is proud of herself for creating a stable life after moving from Michigan to Los Angeles at the age of 17. One thing that we learn from her bio is that her social game is her biggest strength.

Lauren emphasized her ability to connect with people with ease. By just reading her answers to the standard CBS questions, you can feel her personality oozing out. It won’t be hard for Lauren to form relationships fast. That’s an essential skill to have in the early going because it’s those first impressions that can get your torch snuffed on the first episode, just ask Reem Daly!

When asked which Survivor contestant she relates to most, she chose Cirie and Sandra. Once again, she picked Cirie for her strong social game. However, on top of her social skills, she compared herself to Sandra because of her killer instinct. Both in her bio and the behind the scenes CBS video, Lauren mentioned her ability to be cutthroat when necessary

On paper, having an effective social game but also having the guts to pull off big moves is an incredible combo, but it’s definitely hard to pull off. The concerns I have with Lauren is that she might be too aggressive with forming relationships and making plans right out of the gate.

It’s hard to tell just off of a bio, but she doesn’t appear to have advanced survival skills or the potential to be a challenge beast. That said, if Lauren can be patient and rely on her bubbly attitude to strengthen her hold on the game, then she might able to develop serious control over this season.
