The Survivor: Island of the Idols episode 3 press photos are in, and it seems as though the Vokai tribe were unavailable for their close-ups this week.
For whatever reason, the Survivor: Island of the Idols episode 3 press photos only hint at what’s going on at the Lairo camp as well as hints at the Immunity Challenge.
There are weeks with more individual, unique press photos in Survivor than a premiere. However, last week’s assortment saw Vokai decidedly huddled up in their camp while Lairo was out and about attempting to crab on the rocky shores near their beach. It was an imbalanced allotment of photos, both group and close-up, between the tribes.
The Survivor: Island of the Idols episode 3 press photos are decidedly less varied, as those uploaded before the episode premieres next week are decidedly oriented towards one tribe. There are no camp visits to the Vokai tribe for close-up or group photos, so let’s take a look at the Lairo tribe for now!
There aren’t many group photos of the Lairo tribe, either, but there are several with Elaine, Elizabeth, Karishma, and Aaron pushing out to the ocean in hopes of catching some fish. A secret scene from last week showed a mostly failed attempt to catch more than one crab, so it’s safe to say the Lairo tribe is very hungry.
The women of Lairo have been dominating the game so far in Survivor: Island of the Idols, and with Missy Byrd and Chelsea Walker talking off in private, I’d say the women’s alliance on the tribe is only strengthening as the early game progresses.
This is the more perplexing part of Island of the Idols, as Boston Rob Mariano and Sandra Diaz-Twine are reading a piece of paper longer than we’ve seen as instructions for the first two tests we’ve seen.
I went back to Kellee’s visit to the Island of the Idols to see if that island backdrop was noticeable. Sure enough, it is, as I was concerned that Boston Rob was walking up to a tribe with a board of some type and discs in hand. This may have something to do with the next test, or it could just be luxury distraction items for coaches that have nothing to do three days at a time.
I was serious about the lack of photos, as we’ll have to make do with the tribes as they approach the third Immunity Challenge of Survivor: Island of the Idols.
The first part of the challenge will see tribes swim out to a structure where they all have to climb atop as a team.
The depth perception of this shot is remarkable, but as you can see, Missy Byrd is on the far end of a beam to grab a bag containing rectangular slats of some kind. The other bag from the other end of the beam is missing, presumably taken by another member of Lairo.
This photo of the Vokai tribe illustrates that the tribe needs to balance as a group in order for players at each end to grab the bags, as this shot shows a lot more teetering in the air for Kellee’s benefit.
I feel like there’s an in-between stage of this challenge missing, as there are 3D puzzle pieces needed to assemble a completed puzzle as well as a net on the side holding some pieces and a box with slats to the side holding other pieces.
Here’s a shot of Karishma and Dean trying to assemble the Lairo tribe’s puzzle while Aaron looks over to Vokai to get any pointers. I’m pretty sure Dean was on the first failed puzzle attempt for Lairo, so hopefully for him, he’ll redeem himself and, perhaps, even earn some screentime? One could hope; he’s the only player without a confessional so far this season.
