Highlighted by a trip down memory lane for the show’s only two-time winner, the Survivor: Island of the Idols episode 3 secret scenes shared introspection.
The secret scenes have been a point of contention for the Canadians at Surviving Tribal, as many of the juicy extras are hidden away from the show’s official YouTube channel. However, for the Americans who enjoyed seeing the up and down journey of Vince this past week, there’s a lot more Survivor content to view.
The Survivor: Island of the Idols episode 3 secret videos are in, with the first substantial video showcasing exactly why Vince was so shady to the women; he seemed to be very shady when it comes to what he’s doing. Missy seemed to be gathering firewood while Vince strolled up claiming to be searching for yams and cassava. It looked rather sketchy and Missy’s awareness of Vince being a potential flip vote in the middle of Lairo planted the seeds of the episode’s vote-out.
Vince Moua even goes on to explain the pros and cons of being the man in the middle in his “The Day After” secret scene, saying it was a position he didn’t find himself in by choice but by circumstance. He speaks the truth with the notion that you can run the perfect game from home in your head but being out on the island, you have to throw the game plan away and come up with something on the fly.
Though we’re glad to see proof that treemail exists for both Lairo and Vokai (the latter of which thought the Survivor: Island of the Idols episode 3 Immunity Challenge ended in a crowded tribe platform hug), I found myself enjoying the cut-for-time reflection from Boston Rob and Sandra as idols of the game. More importantly, we got a quick rundown from Sandra’s remarkable journeys to win both times, as the odds were stacked against her both times.
I understand why these scenes were cut from the episode as treemail outside of “evacuate your shelter” is mostly a waste of time these days. More importantly, the Island of the Idols already takes away 10 and a half minutes of every 42-minute episode, effectively using up a quarter of the episode adding a bunch of idols into the game of Survivor like it’s a wedding gift bag.
