Survivor Island of the Idols: Three stories to watch in episode 4
From Island of the Idols drama to idol hunting, we preview three stories to watch heading into tonight’s episode of Survivor.
Considering how early production has thrown in tribe swaps in recent Survivor seasons, Island of the Idols is incredibly late! None of the episode 4 promos indicate a tribe swap, so for the first time in a while, we’re going four straight episodes without any tribe reshuffling. Having an extra three or more days with the same format has really flushed out the dynamics of each tribe.
The opening few days of a newbie season typically has the castaways operate out of fear for being the first or second person out. With a delayed swap, we get the chance to see these first time players get comfortable with Survivor before it changes dramatically. As a result, several interesting storylines on each tribe are becoming more significant. Here are three things to watch for in tonight’s episode.
1) Can the Lairo women hide their alliance?
Once again, the five women on the Lairo tribe successfully voted out a male member, however, the men on the tribe are starting to pick up on their alliance. If an all-female alliance is discovered too early, it won’t last. Also, the promos have teased a showmance between Chelsea and Dean, which could cause division between the women.
Thankfully for them, they were able to kill two birds with one stone last Tribal Council by sticking with the tribe consensus, while still keeping all five women intact. That savvy play might just be enough to lessen the paranoia of a women’s alliance. If another guy goes before the swap, this alliance would be in a perfect position to take control.
2) Will Kellee’s Island of the Idols lie hold up?
There didn’t seem to be any blowback on Elizabeth when Vince returned from the Island of the Idols. That said, it just feels like the castaways on Vokai are pickier when it comes to finding the truth about this twist. If someone who isn’t particularly close to Kellee ends up visiting the Island of the Idols, then they can blow up her game in an instant. If Kellee goes to the island again, the target is sure to be on her, at least for the short-term.
3) Who will find the Vokai idol?
The Hidden Immunity Idol at the Lairo camp was discovered by Chelsea in episode 2. On the flip side, the Vokai beach still has an idol somewhere within the brush. With a probable swap in episode 5, tonight might be the last chance for an original Vokai member to find an idol.
