Survivor Island of the Idols episode 5 press photos: Sea of change
The tribes are about to be swapped together, so the Survivor: Island of the Idols episode 5 press photos are noticeably bereft to avoid spoilers for what’s next.
There are very few Survivor: Island of the Idols episode 5 press photos available, but they do indicate the Immunity Challenge layout, and how many swapped tribes there will be.
Tribe swaps are a crucial moment in Survivor, as you don’t know whether or not a player in a good position will be screwed based on luck or whether or not a player will now be in a precarious position because factors like age and strength suddenly become more important.
The Survivor: Island of the Idols episode 5 press photos are in, but first, we’re going to show a shot from episode 4 that only made it online after last night’s show aired on television.
Here’s a look at the Vokai tribe returning to their camp from a challenge with an assortment of coffees, baked goods, and general caffeinated accessories. It was around this time in Edge of Extinction that we saw Reward Challenges played out, yet I think we skipped one or the reward from the Immunity Challenge this week was omitted.
Take a last look at Vokai tribe 1.0, as they’re walking up to a challenge mat in anticipation of a Reward Challenge.
The same goes for Lairo, with Elaine being the only one with a smile on her face in anticipation of something more going on.
At the
David vs. Goliath
tribe swap, it looked like a Reward Challenge was set up in the background (you know, the one where Angelina, weeks later,
would precariously dangle by ropes
). This is … technically a reward, as a plate of uncovered beef, chicken, shrimp, and limes with unknown white ooze coming out seems like a protein boost a tribe needs.
However, the reality at the start is the Vokai and Lairo tribes are going to be switched up. This is the moment where they drop their buffs and await the fate of the Survivor gods.
Janet retrieves a buff from the woman’s basket, as there are eight women and eight men left in Survivor: Island of the Idols. We haven’t had a tribe swap this late after four vote-outs since Millennials vs. Gen X.
It looks like there will only be two tribes in Survivor: Island of the Idols before the merge (unless there’s some more trickery ahead), as the layout for part one of the post-swap Immunity Challenge sees two setups, including swimming out to a ladder, jumping over, diving down for something and balancing over a narrow set of beams.
The last part of the Immunity Challenge is another fun equalizer that’s not a puzzle; shooting hoops. We don’t have any Cliff Robinsons or Scot Pollards this season, but both Dean and Missy have a lot of collegiate experience playing basketball.
