After an unpredictable tribal, the 17th place finisher on Survivor: Island of the Idols got sent packing. We breakdown this castaway’s enlightening exit comments.

It’s exciting to watch a classic Survivor blindside, especially early on in a season when we still don’t know too much about each player. As entertaining as blindsides are, when these moves are done without a legitimate purpose, they can actually cause more harm than good to the players who formulated the blindside.

This might be the case for Chelsea Walker during episode 4 of Survivor: Island of the Idols. Chelsea’s name was thrown out as a possible voting option after Aaron and Missy insisted on keeping Karishma. Understandably so, Chelsea is disappointed in her final placement, as she somberly shared some illuminating details with Rob Cesternino on RHAP. Here are some of the highlights from that exit interview.

Nothing was going on between herself and Dean!

The edit painted Dean and Chelsea as a blooming showmance, but she utterly denied that notion. Even the edit showed Chelsea resist the idea of a showmance. She mentioned how snuggling with Dean was one short scene and that he did the same with Elizabeth and even Karishma! She made it clear to Cesternino that she never went out with him after the show and that there was never any romantic interest between them.

They were simply a pair of people who were on the same page. Chelsea wishes she picked up on how others perceived her relationship with Dean so she could’ve persuaded the group otherwise. That said, whether it’s a showmance or not, when a guy and girl around the same age spend a decent amount of time together in Survivor, it’s bound to raise red flags. You can thank Boston Rob for that.

She will never understand why Missy made this move

Chelsea still feels that her blindside was unnecessary. It’s true that most eliminated castaways say that, but Chelsea has a point. As one of the key players in the all-female alliance, Missy was inexplicably willing to take out one of their loyal members.

Although Chelsea understood where Missy was coming from in wanting to keep Karishma around as an extra vote, she believes it doesn’t even help her cause. By blindsiding both Chelsea and Dean, the tribe now fractured Dean’s loyalty in the process. If Karishma got voted off, Lairo would go back to camp with the entire tribe united.

She didn’t tell anyone about her idol

Contrary to most castaways nowadays, Chelsea kept her pre-game promise of not telling anyone about her idol. So Missy didn’t switch the vote to Chelsea with the inkling of flushing an idol. Dean did notice a bulge around Chelsea’s waist, but she was able to convince him that she was given lady stuff for that time of the month, and that seemed to do the trick!

Chelsea revealed a few secret alliances

Besides Chelsea and Dean coming off as a strong pairing, she shed light on two other duos. Despite losing Vince, Chelsea noted that Tom and Elaine were still close at this point. Within the women’s alliance, she felt that Elizabeth and Missy had a tight bond, which might explain why Missy and Aaron went to her first when deciding to initially target Dean. It will be interesting to see how these pairings pan out after the swap.
