Just like most other avenues for pre-show content, Survivor: Island of the Idols episode 10 press photos punctuates a noticeable silence from CBS this week.

The Survivor: Island of the Idols episode 10 press photos mark the merge-plus-one turning point in the season where screengrabs from the show that will air are used.

It’s been a depressing week for most Survivor fans capable of sharing basic levels of human empathy. We’re down two of Island of the Idols’ greater characters because they were on the other side of tragedy mixing with gameplay, while the perpetrators of darkness and unease continue on in positions of relative power.

It’s also been a relatively silent week once again, with CBS releasing Survivor: Island of the Idols episode 10 press photos sometime on Tuesday night; the day before this week’s episode airs on television. Just like with press interviews being released yesterday and today, it seems as though the powers that be want to move on with the game while leaving fans overwhelmed with fear, distrust, anger, and sadness hanging.

We’ve seen in the one promo that was made available online in Canada that two people will be going home tonight. With two individual immunity necklaces on display, it’s looking more and more like we’ll see a Ghost Island back-to-back Tribal Council scenario.

It’s another opportunity for children at home to laugh about Jeff Probst talking about balls, as the competitors will need to balance on an increasingly narrow beam while spinning a ball centrifugally along a track.

Judging by both shots we have, it appears as though the five-person Tribal Council will feature Tommy, Missy, Elizabeth, Elaine, and Karishma on the orange challenge while Janet, Aaron, Dean, Lauren, Noura, and somebody who should have been removed already competing in the purple challenge.

Is it me, or does this ball look green in motion? It’s seemingly not important, but it’s an odd choice considering how often we’ve seen white balls clacking together on Survivor.

Karishma, much like Jar Jar Binks, is the key to all of this in Survivor: Island of the Idols episode 10, as she’s seen in a lot of photos talking to people. She’s an easy boot in her group of five, yet we have a “Next Time On” promo that hints Missy is going after Tommy. She might be the swing vote.

With the four visibly seen here, Lauren behind the tree and I think somebody between Aaron, the tree, and Lauren; they’re all comforting Elizabeth in an obviously serious moment. Thank god Dan isn’t in any other press photos but the necessary group shots this week.

Our hero of the week isn’t in a lot of the group strategy sessions, and it makes sense if she’s truly on the outs and a possible target. However, it looks like she’s talking to someone here, so maybe she has safety for another week if it’s to talk about another target.

Whenever screenshots show both, A) A player sitting alone, and B) A player on a hammock, it means that they’re likely shown in an interstitial as a voting target. “Karishma and Janet” are the easy targets of the week and benefit Aaron and Dean’s games, but nothing is easy in Survivor.

This could be part of the moment Elaine tells Tommy Missy is targeting him, and I can’t wait to see why Elaine would do that based on the in-game relationships.

I’m not sure if Lauren is listening, stewing angrily, or strategizing with others, but that’s Aaron beside her, and it’s unclear if a third person is in this discussion or group. If looks could kill, though…

Another isolated shot of a player not in a discussion, the more I think it’s possible somebody suggests voting Dean out.

I’m guessing there’s no Island of the Idols this week, but Boston Rob Mariano and Sandra Diaz-Twine will be back to provide notes or, if it’s as grim as last week’s episode, keep a bit more reserved in judgment.
