The Final Five race to win an Immunity / Reward Challenge with new buffs in the Survivor: Island of the Idols finale preview video for tonight’s episode.

The Survivor: Island of the Idols finale preview video will showcase the early portion of the first Immunity Challenge set to air tonight.

As we await the airing (and live-to-tape filming) of the Survivor: Island of the Idols finale later tonight, it seems as though all excitement for the ending has been sucked out of the proverbial room. There’s a gigantic elephant that had previously occupied that space and has since been removed from the room, but its impact has changed not only the game but the willingness to feel excitement for its conclusion.

It doesn’t help that the usual pomp and circumstance for the episodes after the merge (including the promos and the sneak peek previews) have been slow to the draw, as the Island of the Idols finale preview video came within 24 hours of the season’s winner being crowned the Sole Survivor.

For obvious spoiler reasons, we don’t see much of what goes on, but it seems like players have to collect portions of rope needed to traverse an obstacle down near the end of the long path ahead of them. One thing we couldn’t help but notice, however, is that the players are wearing dark blue buffs as opposed to the traditional light blue received at the Lumuwaku tribe merge.

These buffs seem to have been obtained at the Island of the Idols as they come part and parcel with the test set to be given to the Final Five. We’ve heard no word of an advantage in this challenge in this preview video, but the previous tests have granted players advantages for successful completion.

We also heard Jeff Probst declare this challenge to give players both immunity and a reward, as the decisions made at the Final Five seemingly less important from a reward standpoint as it would at the Final Six. Regardless, we’ll have to see how things shake out when the finale airs later tonight on CBS.
