With a strategy not unlike a quarantine, the buddy system on steroids played a huge part in the voting strategies of Survivor: Winners at War episode 5.

This piece will discuss the Survivor: Winners at War episode 5 voting results, as well as discuss the topics brought up by the show this week.

All it takes is a wink and a nudge sometimes. Well, there’s honestly way more than what we saw during this week’s episode of Survivor: Winners at War, but we managed to glean most of what was going on before a major swing in the other direction pulled things back toward “blindside.” Well, it is a blindside in the traditional sense, not in the kind where you know that the confessional after an Immunity Challenge is usually the opposite of what happens.

Most of the time, when two tribes expand into three in Survivor, the expansion green tribe (a common staple) ends up going on a tear or, at the very least, takes second place in challenges. However, Yara broke rank by having a big lead heading into the puzzle only to have their safety slip from their hands.

With Sarah and Sophie’s fears of the Sele 1.0 majority on their tribe coming together to vote one of them out actualizing, nobody could predict that Boston Rob would think to try off the Buddy System 2.0 against other winners. The episode suggested that Sophie and Sarah only got seven or eight words each from Adam and Ben, winking or mouthing “Rob” in solidarity, with the editing looking very much like it would be stupid for Sarah to not use her Steal a Vote advantage or Sophie her idol.

Once Tribal Council rolled around, and the decisiveness became clear, it looked like a legend getting voted out was inevitable. Once neither Yara woman used their advantages, Boston Rob’s fate had been sealed. Here are the Survivor: Winners at War episode 5 voting results for each player, detailing who voted for them.

  • One vote for Sarah Lacina (Boston Rob Mariano)
  • Four votes for Boston Rob Mariano (Adam Klein, Ben Driebergen, Sarah Lacina, Sophie Clarke)

It’s a pretty straightforward vote, even though the editing made it look like it could have gone either way in the end.
