As the Survivor: Winners at War episode 5 secret scenes show, it’s quite challenging to have to start from the beginning in the middle of the game.

With three tribes now a reality in Survivor: Winners at War, it is a lot harder to capture every aspect of tribal life across three separate camps. Inevitably, one group event here or a tribe’s personal challenge there slip through the cracks when trying to tell the story of 15 individuals. That’s not even including the Edge of Extinction, which got 100% glossed over this week.

Thankfully, the Survivor: Winners at War episode 5 secret scenes are here to fill in the gaps with the more character-driven content, even though there’s some retreading to be seen. For example, “comedy hour” over at Dakal involves Tony breaking out the ladder again for a new crew, although he ducks out to allow Denise to grab the breadfruit on his tribe due to her smaller stature. That’ll shut Jeremy up, even though he’s a fan of the more laugh-driven vibes at Dakal.

It’s not all fun and games over at the new Yara tribe, as one of their secret scenes involves showing the hardship of a terrible night’s sleep with basically no coverage to speak of. That’s what gets the tribe in motion to build their new humble abode, although I must admit that Rob’s construction opportunities seem rather reduced than what we saw in Island of the Idols.

Speaking of hardships, Tyson talks about being humbled for the third time in his Survivor career in his “Day After” secret scene. With Edge of Extinction in play, however, it’s not like your standard season where they sit in a field at Ponderosa and reflect about what they’ve done. Instead, he’s talking about how hard you have to work for everything you get towards your next shot at returning to the game proper.

Our one Sele secret scene dives deeper into the relationship Michele and Parvati have formed in their time on the island, with Michele referring to Parv as her closest friend in the game. It’s no wonder Parvati has stayed in the game for so long despite her threat level, as Michele likely positioned Ethan to be the first of those classic three to be voted out to develop a closer relationship with her friend.

Finally, the last of the Survivor: Winners at War episode 5 secret scenes shows Yara getting treemail now that they have finally built more of their shelter. Boston Rob doesn’t even want to think about losing, as he likely knows his fate that eventually does happen. With Sarah and Ben getting treemail, perhaps the Buddy System wasn’t as effective as shown on television.
